Palmenhaus

The restaurant is set in what used to be the private Orangerie of the Imperial Hofburg palace. It is a unique glass and steel construction and one of the most beautiful of its kind in the world. You will still find exotic plants growing in the inside - combined with the brasserie style decor...it makes this place quite unique! The restaurant has an additional floor called mezzanine that allows for great views over the garden - especially in winter this is the best place to sit for brunch or enjoying a light lunch!

The best place is still the terrace. You can have coffee,drinks and food here all day in a unique setting - with a view onto the private gardens of the imperial family - not bad at all. During summer the terrace remains open till 2.00am - a great place to spend your evening! In case you find no place on the terrace, and you have already eaten - have a look at the 'Palmenhaus Garden Bar' right next to the restaurant - you will see the canvas chairs outside where people hang out enjoying a drink or cocktail till early hours.

Another option to enjoy the Palmenhaus is the afternoon and evenings: The bar & lounge area of the Palmenhaus invites for a cozy and trendy place to hang out - the couches are huge, comfortable and red... An excellent place to relax and have great coffee and cake, lots of international newspapers around, at the same time quite peaceful. This changes in the evenings - this is a great place to have drinks or cocktails - the environment is really cool (DJ music on Friday)!

The food here is good, a bit pricy, but peple come for the atmosphere rather than culinaric highlights . Service is friendly and efficient - no dissappointment here....
