Description
Blue is the color of melancholy - Vincent van Gogh already knew that. The paintings on display at the Albertina show his development from the first impressionist still lifes to colorful paintings from the south of France. Blue almost always plays an important role. Van Gogh's early, tragic death turned his life and work into a myth. Matthew Wong saw himself in Vincent van Gogh and his work. The two shared a difficult childhood, psychological problems and exuberant talent. Wong lived a secluded life in the north of Canada, while van Gogh retreated to the south of France. Both sought artistic success in the big cities. The last paintings by the painter, who voluntarily retired in 2019, trace van Gogh's style and motifs. Together, we set off in search of the secrets of his painting.Includes
